day 120: road trip reflections (part one)
October 24th, 2008
It all began last Monday, when I frantically ran over to the film department office to drop off my final essay (on Bruce Lee) right at 9 AM before heading over to my friend Julie’s flat where we were being picked up by taxi to be taken to the airport.
day 118: back in welly
October 22nd, 2008
Hello everyone! I can’t believe it’s been a mere ten days since my last post. Anyways, I’m back — safe and sound — in my flat in Wellington. Rubbish weather as usual but you can’t help but smile when you come back ‘home,’ which is what I think I can now call this city. I do admit it is a bit bizarre and I do have an essay due in 48 hours that I haven’t started, but for now I am totally exausted and totally content. What a trip! I have lots to write on and I’ll be posting incrementally, not in one go, so as to avoid overwhelming. Plenty of photos too.
day 108: road trip
October 12th, 2008
Hey everyone! Just thought I’d let you know that I’ll be touring the South Island for the next ten days or so — beginning in Christchurch. So, updates might be few and far between but I’ll certainly have plenty to talk about and some photos to post after the trip.
And, hopefully, I’ll also be able to mention how excited I am to have the Red Sox in the World Series again — cross your fingers and knock on wood.
day 107: protect yourself

day 106: out for summer
October 10th, 2008
Last day of classes today! But what’s that? I’ve still got an essay to write for Monday… and another, and another? They sure do hit you hard and early. Today was a frustratingly productive day - that is to say that it was frustrating and productive, sort of. I finished my essay on South Park (woop!) but have now got to start my essay on Bruce Lee and transnational stardom (damn.) Spent the afternoon getting drinks at Southern Cross, planning my roadtrip with Julie to the South Island, then we stopped by the Rutherford House for free (!) drinks for International Students. That was followed by a dinner of gelato and chips and sitting a screening of Morgan Spurlock’s (new) doco “Where In The World Is Osama Bin Laden?” Must admit it was kind of lame — never serious enough to be taken seriously and never too funny to be truly humorous. Sometimes that recipe works, but not here. Still worth a view, just maybe not twelve bucks.
